Cherry Wood Platter

This is a very fine and elegant platter I turned out of a cherry board offcut. It shows a beautiful rippled grain and a lot of character. It will be a great addition to your table or your kitchen worktop.

Hand-wash the platter with warm water and mild dish soap, dry washed them with a clean dishtowel, then allow them to air-dry completely before putting them away. 

Periodically rub it with mineral oil or natural wax. Don't use food-based oil like vegetable or olive oil, since these types of oils can go rancid.

Wooden items can absorb odours from strong flavours like garlic or oil and could transfer the odours and flavours to other foods. To reduce the smell, rub the wooden surface with the cut side of a halved lemon or with a paste made of baking soda and water.

With these tips, your wooden kitchenware should last a long, long time.
