Rustic pot or box.
This rustic pot or box (you'll decide) was turned out of reclaimed cherry, walnut and wenge. The base was charred after turning to waterproof it, and sealed with a food-safe mineral oil and natural wax finish to keep the beauty of the wood imperfections and its natural grain and patterns. You can use it for sugar, salt, spices... it will add a unique rustic touch to your kitchen or table.
Hand-wash it with warm water and mild dish soap, dry washed it with a clean dishtowel, then allow it to air-dry completely.
Periodically rub it with mineral oil or natural wax. Don't use food-based oil like vegetable or olive oil, since these types of oils can go rancid.
Wooden items can absorb odours from strong flavours like garlic or oil and could transfer the odours and flavours to other foods. To reduce the smell, rub the wooden surface with the cut side of a halved lemon or with a paste made of baking soda and water.
With these tips, your wooden kitchenware should last a long, long time.
